Knowing your hair type can help you better care for your hair. More importantly, understanding your hairās porosity can help you better identify products that will work for you. Different porosities can be found in all hair types, while toxic chemicals and the use of unnatural ingredients can change your hair's porosity and texture.
Using NUELE products that are made from 100% natural ingredients, that your body readily accepts as safe, can improve your hairās integrity. Giving you the natural shine, luster, and manageability that we all desire.
*The following are typical characteristics of each hair type before any damage.
Very Straight
Naturally straight and difficult to hold a curl. It is flat with little or no body and is completely straight from root to tip.
Medium Porosity:
Allowing just the right amount of moisture to enter while preventing too much from escaping. Resilient and elastic hair that is full of bounce. Although, unnatural processes can damage the hair and increase its porosity.
Occasional deep conditioning treatments with protein conditioners can benefit medium porosity hair, but proteins should not be included in your daily regimen.
Straight
Sporadic bends and tend to curl under slightly.
Low Porosity:
Resistant to absorbing moisture and it is likely for hair products to sit on the hair, although it retains moisture very well.
Light weight products are best. It is recommended to use heat treatments and to rinse hair with warm water to help with absorbing hair products and nutrients into the hair shaft, and for reducing frizz. .
Straight with slight bends
Naturally straight and difficult to hold a curl. It is flat with little or no body and is completely straight from root to tip.
Medium Porosity:
Allowing just the right amount of moisture to enter while preventing too much from escaping. Resilient and elastic hair that is full of bounce. Although, unnatural processes can damage the hair and increase its porosity.
Occasional deep conditioning treatments with protein conditioners can benefit medium porosity hair, but proteins should not be included in your daily regimen.
Straight & Wavy
Loose waves throughout hair. Can become frizzy if hair is damaged.
Varies between low to medium porosity.
Medium Porosity:

Low Porosity:
Resistant to absorbing moisture and it is likely for hair products to sit on the hair, although it retains moisture very well.
Use light weight products and heat treatments if hair isnāt absorbing products.
Wavy
Waves are clearly defined. Naturally the hair lays close to the scalp especially when there is insufficient moisture and hydration to the hair, which would result in frizz.
Varies between low to medium porosity.
Medium Porosity:

Low Porosity:

Wavy with Volume
Waves that are tightly drawn and form loose spiral curls. Hair can become very frizzy, tangled and puffed up.
Varies between medium and high porosity.
Medium Porosity:
Allowing just the right amount of moisture to enter while preventing too much from escaping. Resilient and elastic hair that is full of bounce. Although, unnatural processes can damage the hair and increase its porosity.
High Porosity:
Moisture is easily absorbed and similarly loses moisture quickly. Hair can lack luster and shine.
Heavy and rich products work well but overapplying hair products can easily result in oversaturated and greasy hair.
Curly & Wavy
Loose curls that are naturally defined. Hair can have two textures, curly closer to the scalp and wavy at the ends. Hair tends to be very dry.
Curly
Consistent curls throughout that spiral. Hair is very frizzy and dry.
High Porosity:
Moisture is easily absorbed and similarly loses moisture quickly. Hair can lack luster and shine.
Heavy and rich products work well but overapplying hair products can easily result in oversaturated and greasy hair.
Curly with Volume
Curls are increasingly tighter and coily. Hair is very frizzy and dry. Can have multiple textures including tighter curls near the scalp and looser curls near the ends. Hair strands clump and are moderately defined.
High Porosity:
Moisture is easily absorbed and similarly loses moisture quickly. Hair can lack luster and shine.
Heavy and rich products work well but overapplying hair products can easily result in oversaturated and greasy hair.
Tight, Larger Curls
Coily and tight cylindrical curls that are springy. Has a clearly defined curl pattern.
Very high porosity:
Moisture is readily absorbed and similarly loses moisture quickly resulting in very dry hair. Hair can lack luster and shine.
Heavy and rich products work well but overapplying hair products can easily result in oversaturated and greasy hair. Need to keep moisturizing to detangle and reduce breakage.
Tight, Smaller Curls & Larger curls
Coily and typically densely packed. Hair is defined and has a clear curl pattern that may vary between larger and smaller curls.
Tight Textured
āZā shaped zigzag pattern that has little or no defined sections of hair. The texture of individual hair strands tend to switch from thin/fine to wiry to coarse.
