More and more people are feeling the pull to get away from chemicals in their food, chemicals in their skincare and chemicals in their makeup. That’s because we are realizing the dangers of putting these chemicals in and on our bodies – so why is haircare still behind?

Studies have shown that hair products, especially for women of color, have 70% more toxins in them. This can result in all kinds of hormone and bodily issues – it’s time we realize. Hair health is physical health, and we have to put a stop to this risk.

Here are the three ingredients to look out for – and the three things you’ll never find in Nuele.

1.    Sulfates

Sulfates in your hair care help to clean your hair – from roots to the tips, they’ll act as a detergent and cleanse away the dirt. We love to be clean, so it sounds like a good thing, right?

But no, this clean is too deep and includes stripping the oils from your roots, and follicles. What you’ll find is sulfates are notorious for leaving a dry, brittle scene behind where a sensitive scalp is a common side effect. So, in short, no thanks.

2.    Parabens

Parabens are essentially preservatives that keep your product fresh for the long haul – because there’s nothing worse than finding your favorite shampoo or lipstick has gone bad since you last used it.

But parabens are believed to slip into your body through your skin and disrupt hormone function by mimicking the estrogen in your body which can trigger an increase in cell division and the growth of tumors – who wants that because we certainly don’t.

3.    Alcohols

Well, come on – I think we all know what alcohol does to your hair and scalp. Think back to when you last cut your finger and used an alcohol wipe to cleanse it – how did your skin feel afterwards? Do you want your hair to feel like that?

I thought not.

Alcohols dry out your hair, and leave it brittle and fragile. Having said that, alcohols cover a big ingredient pool and not all of them are bad – even so, we’d rather not risk it when nature has provided us with all we need.
