StrandSense is a structured self-assessment, scored the same way for everyone. Here is exactly what happens between your answers and your numbers.
The assessment asks 20 questions across six sections — your hair's texture and behaviour, its damage history (heat, colour, chemical treatments), your environment, and your goals. It takes about 90 seconds, and every question exists because it changes the outcome.
Your answers are weighted into five profile areas — visible in full in the "Your hair, in full" section of this page — by a model developed inside NUELE, led by our co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer, Dr. Christine Martey-Ochola. It is built from the same bond chemistry used to formulate every NUELE product. The inputs are fully transparent; the weighting model that reads them is NUELE's proprietary science.
Those weighted inputs produce a score from 15 to 100 for each of your hair's three bond types: disulfide bonds (structural strength), hydrogen bonds (smoothness and frizz control), and ionic bonds (moisture and colour retention). Your headline integrity score is simply the average of the three.
Products are recommended based on which bond types need the most support in your profile. The formulas were independently clinically tested across all hair types with before-and-after laboratory microscopy, and the model is calibrated against the bond-loss patterns observed in that trial. The science that scores your hair is the science that formulates for it.
Because the scoring is deterministic — the same answers always produce the same scores — your 12-week retake is directly comparable to today's result. The change you see is a change in your answers, not in the method.
